Gibson-made Recording King model M-5 Their "L-5" type, from the Kokomo Collection, this was carefully converted to a bar pickup electric by luthier Rich Hoeg (legendary Modulus custom builder who made all the famous guitars for famous people). It has an original 1939 Recording King Charlie Christian pickup, and bound tortoise shell pickguard, looks dead-on factory original. It was an okay acoustic, but it's amazing as a Gibson-made art deco fancy Chrlie Christian electric - a one-of-a-kind fancy early jazz guitar. It was one of the showpieces of the Kokomo Collection. With original hardshell case...

D'Aspiranto (D'Angelico) Jazz Guitar Special-ordered by a dealer, with 24-3/4" scal, nice wide C neck. Supposedly 200 were made, but no one's ever seen any turn up. This is #66, dark honey blonde finish, bound ebony fretboard, wood tailpiece, J. Smith pickup, beautiful burled maple back and sides, spruce top (pressed, not carved). Very clean and very cool, U.S.A. Grover tuners, all quality parts, a bargain for the low price. Sell with original hard case for... View front close-up headstock back back close-up |

Dobro Archtop Electric with Bar Pickup No F-holes, a very rare and unusual example, it's a small archtop body - lower bout only 13-3/4" wide, upper bout 9-1/4" wide, 3-1/2" deep, has a huge V neck, 25" scale, arched top and back. Has the earliest bar pickup, that actually goes under the bridge slightly, set up for regular guitar playing (bone nut changed). The output jack is on the bass side of the body, so it's likely this was originally sold as an electrick Hawaiian slide guitar. This guitar is all original except hte nut, has deco plastick headstock veneero with Dobro engraved in the plastic, the pickguard is the same material as the headstock, with beveled edges, the neck is perfectly straight, frets are fine, no problems at all. The whole guitar is very clean and nice. Extremely rare model, just in... View front close-up back back close-up headstock neck bridge |

Hofner Jazz Guitar Professional quality level with carved spruce top, beautiful curly maple back and sides, 17" wide with sharp cutaway (same as 1960s sharp cut L-5CES). Beautiful blonde finish, clean and stock, pickguard "missing in action" (we'll look for one), straight neck with excellent action. Has that carved jazz tone, fat and clear. Rare model, the 2007 Price Guide values these at $1,500 & up, sell with original gig bag for only... View front close-up back back close-up |

National Archtop Electric The early one with their first version of the bar pickup in a deco pickup mount, all-original guitar in pretty nice condition, had been set up with a high bone nut and played Hawaiian slide style for decades, no truss rod, so the heavy guage strings have bent the neck up - could have the "heat treatment" to straighten the neck and/or reset the neck, etc., but that's why it's cheap - the only repair is an old crack in the neck heel approximately one inch from the heel cap. These sell for $1,000 - $1,500 when straight, sell with case for... View front close-up back back close-up headstock |

National Tenor Archtop Electric A very rare guitar and the only one I've ever seen. Very fancy pearl inlays on the headstock with the National "Shield" on the back of the headstock. Check out the graveyard dust on this thing, sat for decades in storeroom, is in actually very nice condition, just needs a very deep cleaning. Everything is there except hte bridge, neck is straight and will play very nicely, has a wild looking very early bar pickup - the Tiny Grimes tenor jazz thing... Just in... National "Memphis Minnie" Archtop Electric A very rare guitar, nice condition. I've seen most of these without F-holes, a few with, this one has F-holes and it looks stock, but my radar beeps that these F-holes were added later - way back, probably in the 1930s. If so, it just makes the price right and affordable - looks stock still. Nice all-original condition and parts, neck is straight, very deco headstock and appointments. A very cool, very rare guitar - I've seen them bring $1,500 - $1,800, sell this example with case for... View front close-up back close-up headstock headstock back |

Orpheum Bar Pickup Electric Archtop Orpheum's version of the Sherwood Deluxe example, a bit more deco with clear body binding with white purfling. All-original guitar with original tuners and "thread on" output jack, clean example. The neck is up some, but perfectly palyable - easy to remedy if you want (heat treat the neck for around $50). Rare guitar, just in... View front close-up back headstock knobs |
